There are currently two jails, including the Cameron County Jail located in Brownsville, TX and the Carrizales-Rucker Detention Center located in Olmito, Texas. These jails allow visitors two times a week for 20 minutes minimum. All visitors over the age of 18 will need to present valid identification, including a Texas Driver’s License, Texas DPS identification card and any official valid State ID.
Both jails have a combined total of around 2,000 beds, and roughly 1,500 inmates on average occupy those beds. More information can be found on the facility specifications report at https://www.cameroncountytx.gov/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/BATCH_3QA.pdf. In addition, a full listing of the county jail’s defendants can be found online through the sheriff’s office. This includes mugshots, charges, and booking numbers.
The inmate list provides information for inmates in the last seven days housed at the Cameron County Jails who have not been presented to the court, inmates currently awaiting bail, and those who are serving sentences for violations of state and local statutes. It does not, however, include information on federal prisoners or detainees. The roster can be viewed online at https://www.cameroncountytx.gov/incoming/inmates/site/.
